About the New Babylon Foundation
An international nonprofit registered in the State of Texas, dedicated to advancing educational opportunity and sustainable community development, particularly in Iraq and across the Middle East.
Through teacher training, educational capacity-building, school renovation, behavioral support programs and strategic partnerships with governments and international organizations, we improve the quality and accessibility of education in underserved communities. Our work is exclusively humanitarian and educational, respecting the systems and cultural diversity of every community we serve.

A tribute from the U.S. House of Representatives
On November 16, 2017, Michael D. Bishop, Member of Congress, issued a special tribute in honor of our founder, Ammar Rasheed Othman, commending him for achieving his full United States citizenship and recognizing his achievement and continued commitment to the country.
Three phases, one disciplined model
In rural Anbar Province, classes often meet in cargo containers, deteriorating mudbrick buildings or under open skies. Our model moves beyond temporary fixes with transparent allocation and ground-level reconstruction.
Rebuild & Rehabilitate
Physical rehabilitation to eliminate structural and environmental hazards.
Site audits
Transparent needs-scoring matrix covering structural risk, enrollment burden, WASH deficiencies and geographic isolation, pioneered at Umair Bin Saad Primary School, Fallujah.
Structure ~45% of budget
Repair load-bearing walls, reinforce lintels and ceilings, install lockable doors and double-glazed windows against dust storms.
WASH ~20% of budget
Only 49.5% of Iraq’s population has safely managed sanitation. We build gender-separated latrines, handwashing sinks and water filtration.
Electrical & climate
Remove hazardous wiring, install LED lighting and industrial ceiling fans.
Shaded courtyards
Canopy pavilions so exams and gatherings no longer happen under direct sun.
Nutrition facilities
Ventilated, plumbed kitchen modules replace dangerous open stoves.
Supply & Educational Outfitting
A sound building is not enough if students sit on concrete floors or squeeze four to a broken desk.
Water networks
Dependable supply, repaired piping, filtration and cooling units.
Whiteboards
Magnetic dry-erase boards in every room.
Student toolkits
Notebooks, geometry tools, pencil cases, writing tools and reading materials for every student.
Hygiene packs
Soap, disinfectants and feminine hygiene supplies for WASH stations.
Teacher stations
Desks, lockable steel cabinets, lesson materials and organizers.
Pedagogy & Teacher Capacity
Rebuilt walls and new supplies only become lifelong learning when the educator leading the class is trained and supported.
Needs audits
Diagnostic surveys of teaching methods and gaps in literacy, math and science.
Active learning
Group work and formative assessment beyond rote memorization.
